DryZzz 101: How We Make Our Gray Tie-Dye Pillowcase
Go Behind the Scenes with Textile Designer, Kristin Culmo! 🎬
Across the top of Kristin Culmo’s online “About” page, you’ll find the words “color is the place where our brain and the universe meet.” And as the creative genius behind our best-selling, limited edition Gray Tie Dye pillowcase, Kristin brings this mantra to life by dyeing each pillowcase entirely by hand.
For a little extra insider info, here’s more on the DryZzz creative tie-dyeing process:
Kristin uses a resist-dyeing technique where strings and rubber bands hold the cloth together to create patterns.
Modern day tie-dye is an adaptation of a traditional Japanese cloth dyeing method called Shibori.
Many factors work together to create our tie-dyed fabrics, including water temperature, how tightly the string is tied, and how long the fabric stays submerged in the dye solution.
No matter how many times Kristin uses this technique, it’s still an exciting process that is intricate, authentic, and completely one-of-a-kind!
