World Mental Health Day
October 10, 2021. Did you know that DryZzz pillowcases are not only used for sleeping with wet hair, but can also be used to absorb drool while you sleep? 💤
It’s #worldmentalhealthday, and we want to bring awareness to one of DryZzz’s lesser-known uses: helping people who experience excessive drooling get a better night’s sleep. Sialorrhea, also known as drooling or excessive salivation, is a medical condition with a variety of causes that affects millions of children and adults. Common causes of sialorrhea include cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Excessive drooling is also extremely common as a side effect of psychiatric medications, specifically #clozapine #clozaril. People who suffer from #schizophrenia and #schizoaffectivedisorder often have to take this medication to help alleviate their symptoms. Clozapine works to restore balance of certain neurotransmitters in the brain to help decrease hallucinations and prevent suicide.
Regardless of the cause, drooling is an unpleasant symptom that leads to clinical and functional complications. It often leads to sleeping on a soaked pillow and can make sleeping uncomfortable and restless. For some people, sleeping on a saliva-soaked pillow can even cause a rash or acne, and we’ve heard from our customers that DryZzz helped clear up these conditions.
DryZzz’s absorbent microfiber towel and waterproof liner work together to help alleviate some of the discomfort people experience when they drool in their sleep, by absorbing the drool and keeping the pillow dry underneath.
We hope to raise awareness about this condition, to help normalize and de-stigmatize not only excessive drooling, but mental illnesses as a whole. We hope to help more people with this condition get a better night’s sleep because we all deserve the best sleep possible. 🌏💙
